Self-Assessments

Self-assessments for individual capability as well as the capability of the organisation/team being led are available on this page.  They are available in both English and Chinese. 

An organisational/team wide survey (anonymised if needed), customised to show level/department/country etc. as needed, and branded to the clients organisation with subsequent report, is also available (e mail for more details: info@ComplexAdaptiveLeadership.com ).

The simple self-assessments consists of 16questions and show:

For the individual CAL Capability self-assessment:

  • How RESPONSIVE you are to the needs of the scenario and the follower concerned
  • How EFFECTIVE you are when you use each of the four possible leadership strategies
  • How BALANCED you are between leading and enabling, and between effort and separation
  • How SUSTAINABLE you are overall in the leadership strategies you chose

For the Organisational self-assessment:

  • How CAPABLE your organisation is against the CAL 4+4 principles
  • How BALANCED your organisation is between hard and soft principles
We take the security of your personal information seriously and are formally certified for cyber security. Our web site is secured 24/7 by Site Lock (validation in logo at bottom of page). We are certified for Cyber Essentials as well as ISO27001. As per ISO 27001 (standard 5.2)  our Information Security Management System (ISMS) policy is available on request.

The individual CAL Capability self-assessment

You will be given some suggestions regarding:

  1. The strategy you use the most and how to be more effective
  2. The strategy you use the least and how to be more responsive
  3. The number of strategies you use and how to be more adaptive
  4. How balanced you are and where to gain more balance

You will also be invited to consider our KISS format for improvement:

  1. Recognise the actions you current employ and that you should KEEP
  2. Understand the actions you do not employ enough and should INCREASE
  3. Identify the actions you are doing which you do not need and should STOP
  4. Formulate new actions which would help and that you could START

Each of these 8 principles are organised into Soft (Yin) and Hard (Yang)

The balance between soft and hard is given

Each principle is given a % score

The assessment gives an overall absolute score and rating

An ideal balance should be within +/- 2%

Balance should be addressed before strength
